Anja is a storyteller at heart and likes nothing more than a good glass of wine around a fire with friends. Lucky enough to have travelled the world extensively and gone to school in the Middle East for a large chunk of her life, she now calls the West Coast of South Africa home. A quintessential city girl on a farm, she is the newest addition to the Cedarberg Africa team and brings a wealth of travel and hospitality experience.

An international relations major at university, Anja soon decided that great moments shared over great food with wonderful people was a far more attractive concept and has been crafting moments for the last two decades for travellers in Africa. From award-winning brands to boutique offerings, she is an expert at unearthing the passion behind a team. She is a staunch believer that travel is one of the most rewarding things you can enjoy and when she isn’t happily telling our story, you can find her off with her family to go and explore something new, somewhere new, and preferably warm… with a pool.

One thing you always pack on a safari trip?

A small daypack. I tend to always have my hands full with sunglasses, lip balm and a camera, so a small bag that can carry it all and keeps my hands free is perfect. I also recommend a nifty phone case and lanyard for those impromptu snaps. And a bathing suit! Ok, that’s more than one thing!

What is your favourite indulgence to enjoy at a lodge or hotel?

I am a complete water addict so anywhere with a pool is always a win- especially if it’s heated so you can swim year-round! A good wine cellar is also sincerely appreciated- and enjoyed!!

Where are you planning to visit next?

Zanzibar is the perfect ancient intersection between Africa and the Middle East, Stone Town’s history is fascinating and the food and beaches are unbelievable!
