Short, Sweet & Wild: Where to Go for an Easter Family Safari

Easter family safaris - sundowner drinksWhen school calendars rule your life (and your annual leave), the secret to a brilliant family safari is simple: keep it simple, keep it low-travel, and keep it fun. Some destinations reward long, meandering safari journeys, just because their varied attractions are too far apart to make a quicker trip enjoyable.

But Easter and half-term breaks call for something sharper and more streamlined. The trick is to not be too ambitious. One or two contrasting areas, cleverly paired, deliver far more joy than a frantic dash across Africa.

Thankfully, Southern Hemisphere school holidays don’t line up exactly with those in the North. Translation? This means no artificial hiking up of prices to skewer the poor unfortunate parents forced to travel at these times. A few beach retreats may add a small Easter supplement, but it’s rarely the stuff of drama.

Flights can be pricier at this time of year, but the early bird really does catch the best fare. If you can, book international flights 10–12 months out and lock in the wins.

It was a fabulous holiday
"I have booked through Cedarberg before and this is why I came back, as I was highly satisfied. In the end it was so worth it, as it was a fabulous holiday. Peter also recommended the group experience an ..." - Mrs Monika Maintz
