Birding includes rare delights like African finfoot and shoebill, whilst game-viewing offers Burchell’s zebra, eland, impala, Topi, waterbuck, and predators like leopard, hyena. Plus the proverbial hippo in the lake.
It’s the only place in Uganda you’ll find impala and Burchell’s zebra together.
Lake Mburo lies 4-5 hours’ drive south from Kampala. It's the ideal spot for a relaxed 1‑2‑night stop on your way to the popular mountainous rainforests of Mgahinga in the south-west, Bwindi or even Queen Elizabeth. But some of our guests have experienced their best game-viewing in Uganda staying here. But truth be told, you might just stay for the views (and that pool).

This is an extensive wetland system comprising five lakes. A boat trip on the lake is the best way to appreciate crocodile, hippo and the over 300 species of birds.
There’s a wide array of immersive safari experiences including game drives, boat cruises, guided walking safaris, horseback riding and mountain biking. All offering up close and personal wildlife views.

It’s the only lodge in Uganda offering both day and night game drives—with a real chance of leopard sightings. Plus, horseback safaris and mountain biking offer quieter, freer ways to explore. Don’t skip a bush picnic or guided walk.
