Quick Look

The Eastern Cape Game Reserves have become very popular for two reasons. Firstly, they are all malaria-free. And secondly, they lie within easy driving distance of the Garden Route. Thus making it effortless to add on an Eastern Cape safari without having the hassle, wasted time and cost of hanging around at airports and flying to a different part of South Africa.

Most Eastern Cape safari lodges are easily accessible from  Gqeberha/ Port Elizabeth, being only 1 to 1½ hours drive away. This accessibility is both a blessing and a curse. Some are perhaps a little too accessible so that you may not feel that you’re really in the ‘bush’. But we have visited every game lodge in the Eastern Cape. With this knowledge and experience we are experts in advising on which Eastern Cape safari lodge will suit YOU.

The natural bushveld and temperate climate supports plenty of plains game and their associated predators. And many have engaged in extensive alien clearing to restore the diversity of the original vegetation. (Diversity of plant life leads to a diversity of wildlife as well.) So the game-viewing is generally very good and is in open game vehicles.

Some Eastern cape lodges specialize in family safaris. They offer a shorter game drive for younger kids. And some of them have a Kids centre with special kids safari activities, even excursions. So the Eastern Cape is our number family safari destination for younger kids. Plus remember it's malaria-free as well.
