Overview

The Cape Peninsula is full of wonderful things to do from one of the finest coastal drives in the world – Chapmans Peak Drive – to Cape Point National Park with its stunning coastal scenery, historic lighthouses, fynbos and hiking trails to enjoy. Here you might see whales breeching just off the bay and nearby you can view the quirky penguins on Boulders beach, and even swim with them if you are lucky!

Some of Cape Town’s loveliest beaches are found on the Cape Peninsula at Noordhoek, St James and Kommetjie, alongside pretty towns and villages of Hout Bay, Simonstown and Kalk Bay with their interesting little shops and bistros, stunning sea views and laid-back charm.

Stay here or visit?

The question is whether you want to stay here. Or stay in the city and come for the day. That depends on what you’d most like to do. If you are into nightlife and plenty of shopping, then the city will hold more appeal. But if you enjoy being active, this could be the perfect place. Stroll or ride on horse back along long empty expanses of white sandy beach or hike among fynbos in Silvermine Nature Reserve.

If you have time, why not combine a couple of nights on the Cape Peninsula with a couple in the heart of the city to get the best of both worlds?

Why We Love It

  • Out in true nature, yet only 50 mins to the city.
  • Proximity to Cape of Good Hope National Park with its walking trails and stunning scenery
  • Some of the best beaches are on the Cape Peninsula
