The open-plan main area spills into the surrounding wilderness â impressive views of the landscape stretch to the horizon. Here you can fall into a book or spend a lazy afternoon watching game on the sprawling plains.
In Swahili âUbuntuâ means kindness and generosity towards others â and this small and intimate camp certainly lives up to its name. Ubuntu Migration Camp follows the colossal herds of wildebeest as they journey around the Serengeti. The wildebeest migration moves in a continuous cycle throughout the Serengeti and the Masai Mara of Kenya. To give you the best chance of seeing these restless herds, this mobile camp moves between the northern and southern Serengeti. From the dramatic river crossings in the north (from June to mid November) to the fertile grasslands in the south (from mid December to mid Marc) where the wildebeest give birth, Ubuntu Migration camp is set up nearby to ensure youâre always close to the action.
This traditional tented camp is designed to leave no trace. It can quickly be disassembled and move with the herds to new pastures. With 10 spacious tents, each with full en suite facilities, Ubuntu offers guests the opportunity to uncover the more fascinating and unexplored corners of the Serengeti.
Breakfast and lunch are served under canvas in the dining tent mere steps away, while dinner is often enjoyed under the stars beside the glowing embers of the campfire, to the soundtrack of the Serengetiâs nocturnal animals.
Every day, you're out in the bush looking for wildlife such as lions or cheetahs attracted by the huge gatherings of prey. Over morning coffee, watch wildebeest males chasing each other or zebras tussling. For a sunrise to remember, start the day by gliding above the plains in a hot-air balloon. In the evening, look up as the stars reveal themselves.
You can also arrange full days in the bush with picnic lunches or shorter excursions returning to enjoy the tranquility of camp.
