Tanda Tula Safari Camp is situated in the pristine wilderness of the Timbavati private game reserve – 53,000 hectares of prime bushveld which forms part of the greater Kruger National Park. The emphasis here is placed on a quality bush experience, which includes tracking the Big Five whilst also gaining a holistic understanding of the natural rhythms of the bush.
Tanda Tula is a favourite of ours, partly because of its warm friendly ambience and partly because of the quality of both the guiding and the game-viewing on offer in the Timbavati. The focal point of the lodge is the bar/lounge overlooking the active water hole and dry river bed. Afternoons spent around the swimming pool are popular whilst the highlight of each evening is the open-air dinner served around the log fire in a traditional boma. Bush breakfasts and dinners are somewhat of a speciality.
The accommodation comprises well-appointed East African-style tented suites, with large en-suite bathrooms (not tented) with ball and claw baths and outdoor shower. To the front your private timber deck offers great game-viewing opportunities as the animals come to the riverbed.
Tanda Tula Safari Camp offers an intimate and thoughtful game-viewing experience accompanied by little personal touches which enhance your stay. It lies in the central southern part of the Timbavati which means that the lodge’s vehicles can cover all areas of the reserve on their game drives. Elephant researchers are also based at the camp so you can learn more about their fascinating research findings if this interests you.
