Savuti Camp is located on the Savute Channel, which for many years was a dry ribbon of grassland snaking through the adjoining woodland. In 2008 the waters returned, and Savuti Camp now has front-row seats to view the abundant game that has congregated in its wake. The camp is built about 17 kilometres down the channel kilometres ‘downstream’ from the Zibadianja Lagoon – the source of the Channel.
Savuti Camp is a comfortable 10 bedded camp providing accommodation in 5 large walk-in Meru-style tented rooms with en-suite facilities. These are all raised off the ground on wooden decks and face the new waters that flow past the camp after the summer rains. The camp has a thatched dining area, plunge pool and large viewing deck with firepit, all on raised wooden decks.
There is a waterhole close to camp and this attracts large numbers of animals, which you can view from the camp. Activities include game drives in open 4 x 4 Land Rovers, night drives and walks with an armed guide. General game concentrations in the area are high especially in the winter months. All the predators occur in this area -including lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog. The Chobe National Park is renowned for its dense Elephant population and for some of the best elephant viewing, especially in Botswana’s dry winter months.
