Satao Camp in Tsavo East takes you back to the timeless "Out of Africa" safari with canvas tents and personal and friendly service evoking a feeling of the true âOld Africaâ experience. The  location is unique; nestled beneath the shade of the old Tamarind trees, just in front of a very favoured waterhole. The camp is a true oasis which attracts thousands of animals for their daily drink and bathing.
Satao Campâs chefs prepare a tasty range of dishes, all prepared with the freshest ingredients. Lunch is served âal-frescoâ under a 200-year old tamarind tree where you can enjoy watching the elephants at the watering hole. Dinner is served in the restaurant area, usually followed by nightcaps around the campfire.
Satao Camp consists of 20 classic canvas tents - 10 classic tents, six family tents and four luxury suites. There's also a dining room, reception, gift shop and an observation tower overlooking the waterhole.
Each tent has a private veranda and is nestled among the tamarind trees surrounding the campâs very own watering hole. The tents are carefully positioned to allow uninterrupted views of the visiting wildlife whilst ensuring total privacy.
There are four luxury suites who want a little extra luxury, six family tents and ten standard tents. The suites are larger and positioned closest to the water hole. The tents and suites are all en-suite with  African style furniture, comfortable beds, electricity and a spacious bathroom with solar heated showers. All tents are carefully positioned and have a private veranda from which you can enjoy the scenery and also see the elephants coming to drink, wash and groom each other. One tent has been carefully constructed to accommodate guests with physical challenges.
