Overview

Sasaab Lodge has a fabulous location on the high banks of the Ewaso River, just west of Samburu National Reserve and boasts spectacular views as far as Mount Kenya.Β Sasaab has a contemporary North African style and the design is based on Moroccan construction principles, in which African heat is a main consideration.

Accommodation

There areΒ nine spacious rooms, each over 100mΒ² in area with huge thatched roofs and canvas sides. All rooms at Sasaab have sensational views down the river, over the bush and beyond. Couple this with a cooling plunge pool, and you have the perfect formula for this arid but beautiful region. A central mess area welcomes guests on arrival with a cooling drink, and a large main pool provides the ultimate cooling off spot.

Sasaab Lodge is in the midst of the Westgate Community Conservancy, rich in it's raw Samburu culture and traditions.Β It has been built with wildlife conservation and preservation of the environment foremost in mind. TheΒ lodge has been established in association with the local community who benefit directly and indirectly from your stay atΒ Sasaab.

Sasaab Lodge Activities

Activities at SasaabΒ Lodge includeΒ invigorating walks through the wilderness, game watching, alfresco dining as well asΒ a unique cultural experience and opportunities to become involved with the local community. The Samburu people are fiercely proud of their cultural tradition, and delight in sharing their customs with guests, making interaction with locals a major highlight in any visit to Sasaab.

Sasaab is open year around apart from two weeks in the month of November, when the lodge closes for maintenance during East Africa’s rainy season.

Luxury Suite

The luxury suites are incredibly spacious and designed to act as a private sanctuary. Each has a private plunge pool, chill out space (either a veranda or mini-garden), and large open-air bathrooms. Every room is intensely private. The lodge is situated on quite a steep bank, so it is recommended that anyone with walking difficulties requests a room near to the mess, which is easily accessible.

Poolside Family Suite

The accommodation is spacious, comprising of one double and one twin bedroom each with their own bathrooms, connected by a central island within a generously sized plunge pool and entrance area. There is ample space for reading, birdwatching, practising yoga and general relaxation. Private dining can be arranged upon request (subject to availability)

Riverside Family Suite

The accommodation is more than spacious, with large double and twin ensuite bedrooms connected by a breezy open sided lounge area in the middle and an expansive wooden deck out to the front. There are ample seating areas for relaxing, a delightful plunge pool looking out over the river and a rooftop stargazing bed. The large deck is perfect for private dining if this is required and there is also a separate drive-in entrance to this tent complex should groups wish to avoid walking down the winding gravel pathway from the main dining area.
