Overview

Sasaab Lodge has a fabulous location on the high banks of the Ewaso River, just west of Samburu National Reserve and boasts spectacular views as far as Mount Kenya. Sasaab has a contemporary North African style and the design is based on Moroccan construction principles, in which African heat is a main consideration.

Accommodation

There are nine spacious rooms, each over 100m² in area with huge thatched roofs and canvas sides. All rooms at Sasaab have sensational views down the river, over the bush and beyond. Couple this with a cooling plunge pool, and you have the perfect formula for this arid but beautiful region. A central mess area welcomes guests on arrival with a cooling drink, and a large main pool provides the ultimate cooling off spot.

Sasaab Lodge is in the midst of the Westgate Community Conservancy, rich in it's raw Samburu culture and traditions. It has been built with wildlife conservation and preservation of the environment foremost in mind. The lodge has been established in association with the local community who benefit directly and indirectly from your stay at Sasaab.

Sasaab Lodge Activities

Activities at Sasaab Lodge include invigorating walks through the wilderness, game watching, alfresco dining as well as a unique cultural experience and opportunities to become involved with the local community. The Samburu people are fiercely proud of their cultural tradition, and delight in sharing their customs with guests, making interaction with locals a major highlight in any visit to Sasaab.

Sasaab is open year around apart from two weeks in the month of November, when the lodge closes for maintenance during East Africa’s rainy season.

Rooms

Luxury Suite

The luxury suites are incredibly spacious and designed to act as a private sanctuary. Each has a private plunge pool, chill out space (either a veranda or mini-garden), and large open-air bathrooms. Every room is intensely private. The lodge is situated on quite a steep bank, so it is recommended that anyone with walking difficulties requests a room near to the mess, which is easily accessible.

Sasaab has a family unit with two interconnecting rooms which is ideal for two couples travelling together as well as families. The family unit also has one private plunge pool.
