Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp

Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is set in a amphitheatre of ebony and sausage trees on the southern tip of Chief's Island bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. This 260,000 acre private concession includes the game-rich Boro river which attracts a wide variety of big game including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.
Sanctuary Stanley's Camp offers a traditional safari experience with eight luxury safari tents, all en suite. These have recently shed their 1920ās colonial ambience to exhibit a more contemporary chic style. All have expansive views over the beautiful floodplains of the Boro River. Outside your private deck has a hammock for those all but essential afternoon siestas. The central lounge/dining area takes the form of a capacious open tent which uses an ancient sausage tree as its central support. This is decorated with wooden floors, light wood furniture and soft lighting. Thereās a bar, small library area and curio shop. From the swimming pool - a real treat after a hot day of game viewing - you can watch giraffe and other plains game amble across the savannah and sometimes catch a glimpse of rare wild dogs.
Even though white linen and crystal for dinner gives a luxurious feel, Stanley's Camp is a traditional safari experience and does not aim to offer the heights of luxury seen in its more expensive sister camps, Baines Camp and Chief's Camp.
Activities include serene water safaris by mokoro for much of the year, 4x4 game drives and special bush dinners lit by lanterns. Being in a private concession, Stanley's Camp can offer both night drives and also game walks with an armed and experienced guide. It is particularly known for its sightings of wild dog.
