Sanctuary Chief's Camp, in the Okavango Delta, lies on the western side of Chief's Island in the exclusive Mombo concession of the Moremi Game Reserve - an area of unsurpassed predator sightings with a breeding pack of wild dog nearby, plenty of lion, cheetah and leopard - and white rhino too.

The luxurious Chief's Camp is tucked under a shady grove of jackalberry trees, overlooking a seasonally flooded plain which offers excellent game-viewing without you even leaving the camp. This is a beautiful, remote lodge with dining/sitting area, library,curio shop and pizza deck with pizza oven.

The ten spacious bush pavilions are some of the Delta's largest places to spend the night. Each suite have airconditioning above the bed, as well as traditional fans, bathrooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and folding glass doors leading to outdoor showers and bathtub.  Suite also have their own covered deck to spot animals such as elephants, giraffes and buffalo, or you can enjoy a private romantic dinner on your deck.

For utmost privacy the newly built Geoffrey Kent Suite, which sleeps up to six is ideal.  Named after the explorer Geoffrey Kent, and inspired by this award-winning photographer and polo-playing philanthropist’s travels, you can expect characterful interiors as well as a kitchen, indoor lounge, private boma and secluded deck areas. Included in the perks of this luxurious suite is superb service, which includes your own vehicle and dedicated guide, as well as a personal chef, waiter and a housekeeper.

Activities at Chief's Camp

Game activities are predominantly land-based at Chief's Camp given the camp's location with the Moremi Game Reserve. Ancient mopane forests, lagoons, islands, seasonal floodplains and open grassland act as a glorious game sanctuary on the slightly higher ground of Moremi. The rangers of Chief's Camp are experienced and passionate about the area and this contributes to the excellent safari experience.

An added bonus is that mokoro excursions through the narrow channels of the Okavango delta departing from just in front of the lodge, are on offer during the seasonal flood aiding in the perfect safari holiday (seasonal).

The camp also have a spa and fitness centre available.

Sanctuary Chief's Camp lies within the Moremi Game Reserve, a national park, which means that night drives and bush walks are not allowed by the park authorities. Though the game-viewing more than makes up for it, we recommend that you combine a Moremi camp such as Chief's Camp with a camp in a private concession of the Delta to get the best of both worlds.
