Overview

  • Situated in the vibrant Florida Road area of Durban or the quieter Avondale road
  • Characterful boutique hotel
  • Brasserie and bar has a convivial dinner ambience

There are actually now two Quarters Hotels in Durban: the original hotel in Florida Road and a second boutique hotel in nearby Avondale road. Both are booked as one and are very similar in that they are small boutique hotels in characterful old Victoria homesteads combining an old world exterior with modern contemporary rooms and appointments, so we treat them as one.

They both lie in the popular Berea area of Durban. This is the restaurant mecca for Durban, yet also only minutes away from the city centre and Durban's beachfront. Florida Road is adjacent to some of Durban's finest restaurants and bars, all within easy walking distance of the hotel. It's perfect for people who wish to stay in a small friendly hotel but who don't need all the five star bells and whistles. Avondale lies in a quieter leafy road close-by.

Accommodation at Quarters Hotel Florida Road

Quarters Hotel Florida Road comprises four gracious Victorian homes which have been beautifully restored to create a unique hotel of immense charm and character. You'll find a subtle combination of modern sophistication and old-fashioned warmth reflected in everything from the interior décor to the dedicated staff. Each of the 24 rooms at Florida Road has air-conditioning, television, queen-size beds, telephone, safe and tea/coffee-making facilities and all windows are double-glazed. (Note there are no twin bed options here). The decadent bathrooms all have a choice of bath or shower and come with a range of toiletries.

Accommodation at Quarters Hotel Avondale

The original Edwardian home which is now Quarters Hotel Avondale has been beautifully restored to its former glory to mirror the original architecture. There are 11 bedrooms, some with twin beds. All the bedrooms are beautifully furnished with period furniture imported from France and colourfully decorated soft furnishings. The gardens are planted with a multitude of different herbs, spices and scented plants, bushes and trees. As the garden establishes itself, visitors will be greeted by the many intriguing aroma's of this unique garden.

From the beautifully appointed bathrooms to the homemade biscuits, the luxury of the Quarters Hotels are unique. Enjoy breakfast in the brassérie or outside in the tranquil courtyard or terrace. Both are open all day for light meals, lunches and afternoon teas. In the evenings, sit under the stars and enjoy a meal by candlelight. At the end of a hard day of sight-seeing, you'll find this is the perfect place to unwind with a cocktail or post prandial cognac in the bar.
