There are now 10 spacious rooms with full-length decks, which offer the perfect setting to view the game from your room or even whilst enjoying a decadent outdoor bath on the deck.

Namiri Plains is elegant, contemporary and blissfully comfortable. Sink into one of the elegant sofas and watch the wildlife on the plains or relax in the outdoor seating area under the giant acacias. In the evening, you gather to recount the day’s adventures beside the campfire before dinner is served in the spacious dining tent or under a glittering canopy of stars.

This secluded region of the eastern Serengeti is the ultimate big cat territory. A few months a year the Great Migration herds fill the plains close to camp on their way to begin calving in the south.

Enjoy twice daily game drives with their knowledgeable guides. Study and photograph the big cats of the area and absorb the extraordinary sight of massive herds of wildebeest in season.

Or why not take a walking safari? Walking is the most intimate way to experience the bush; the pace is comfortable, your eye-level is the same as the wildlife, and your senses are more acutely aware of the sights, smells and sounds.

Depending on availability, you may be able to meet up with the local cheetah researcher learn more about these endangered big cats. (Booking essential, additional cost)

Mari’s review of Namiri Plains Camp, Eastern Serengeti

For 20 years, the grasslands of the Eastern Serengeti were closed to tourists to allow the cheetah population to replenish itself. Today, this is big-cat territory, where cheetah roam the area in pursuit of prey, and lion and leopard hunt undisturbed.

I love the fact that Namiri Plains is in a more exclusive area and the cat sightings are great here. We saw cheetah en-route and leopard. Namiri was very private with no other camp within an hour’s drive. The nearest airstrip was Seronera which was 75 minutes drive away.

The new rooms were looking absolutely stunning. Highly recommended especially if visiting at the right time.
