Overview

Namib Dune Star Camp is situated on the crest of ancient sand dunes overlooking the spectacular landscape of the Namib Desert. It harboured flora and fauna in its sands and called the soft mist from the ocean to sustain them. It even welcomed the diamonds that had washed down the Orange River and into the Atlantic into its generous arms.

Best described as a soft adventure camp, Namib Dune Star Camp offers the thrill of being out in the desert yet provides luxuries like soft beds and hot showers...

A transfer leads you into a vast desert wilderness to nine wooden cabins. After checking in an optional guided hike is offered to explore the area. As soon as the dunes have transformed to gold and the distant mountains glow purple, it’s time to wheel beds onto balconies to enjoy a night under the glittering sky of the Namib.

Accommodation at Namib Dune Star Camp

The Camp is an eco-friendly camp where careful consideration has been taken in the design and construction to ensure that it leaves a minimum footprint. The intimate camp has nine cabins, with a fair distance between them.

Each cabin has an en-suite bathroom, a large bedroom and a spacious deck. Solar panels on the cabins provide hot water and lights. The rooms are equipped with a double bed that can be wheeled out for a night under the southern skies. An additional non-moveable single bed makes the cabin a perfect home for either families or friends. Extra bedding is supplied for those cooler winter nights under the stars… Hot water and electricity is limited and no fan, air conditioning or plug points (power sockets) are available. This means that guests are required to step lightly in the desert environment and be mindful of the resources.

The central area's wide deck has unrivaled vistas and is the ideal place to have a sun-downer as the sun bathes the landscape in gold. Sunset is followed by a delicious dinner under a blanket of twinkling stars. Enjoy the relaxed ambience while cooling off at the pool, watching the gemsbok arrive at the waterhole.  Escape from the world with the walking trails into the dunes.
