Mount Ceder is a delightful country lodge high in the Cederberg mountains. It offers well-appointed accommodation, either on a Dinner Bed and Breakfast  basis or Self-catering. It lies in a majestic wilderness area between Ceres to the south and the famous central Cederberg sites of the Wolfberg Cracks and Maltese Cross to the north.
You come to a place like Mount Ceder to enjoy the unique beauty and tranquillity. This is a place to embrace this magnificent mountain landscape, and reconnect with nature and the essence of life.
The twelve cottages range in size from one to four bedrooms, all with Oregon pine furnishings. They are immaculately kept and well-stocked with obvious pride and attention to detail. Three luxury 'kliphuis' stone cottages are highly recommended with very good mountain settings. One cottage, Klipbokkop, is particularly luxurious with the added advantage of rosewood furniture, air-conditioning. It even has a Jacuzzi tub on the wooden deck outside for those romantic moments.
At Mount Ceder you can choose to self-cater with excellent braai facilities on offer or enjoy simple wholesome country cuisine at the Old Millhouse restaurant along with some of the superb wines from the area.
Note: Only some of the smaller cottages are walking distance from the restaurant so please request these ones if you don't want to drive.
Here you can walk in the mountains nearby, tackle one of the more famous Cederberg hikes, swim or canoe in the river or marvel at delicate Bushmen rock art. Horse-riding is on offer in the mornings or for a whole day if you are experienced. In season you can even harvest your own olives to take home and at night time the clear mountain skies make you wish you had studied your constellations a little bit before you came to stay at Mount Ceder.
The classic half day walks of Wolfberg Cracks and the Maltese Cross are only 40 minutes drive away with Stadsaal caves and its bushmen paintings also close by. Afterwards you can enjoy some wine-tasting and buying at the award-winning Cederberg Cellars or swim in the deep rock pools of Maalgat.
Alternatively you can do absolutely nothing – sit on your shaded terrace and simply soak in the utter tranquillity of the area.
