Situated on the Matsebi River, Mokolwane Camp is home to 7 charming tents, hiding 10 feet above the ground amongst the shady bows of fig, jackalberry, ilala palm and wild mangosteens. Mokolwane is one of the most remote camps in the Okavango Delta. For certain parts of the year the camp is only accessible on foot. The accommodation boasts superb views and each has a private bathroom. The Matsebi River is the main feeder for Lake Ngami, which is historically famous to the region.
The camp is situated in the open flood plains that receive floodwater 3 weeks earlier than the southern areas of the concession. The vegetation consists of smaller palm islands and wide-open spaces. Elephants love it at the camp, with a buffet of palm nuts, berries, and wild fig to feast on as they drip off these tree giants.
Enjoy morning and afternoon into evening game drives exploring the beautiful yet diverse ecosystems. Going between the islands and the fertile floodplains, keep an eye out for predators stalking the big herds. Wind your way along crystal clear channels on mokoro (seasonal), floating between the water lilies and the papyrus reeds. Take in the noise of nature from your raised tree cabin and stand on your shady deck, coffee and binos in hand, looking for spectacular sightings that come close to camp.
