Meno a Kwena Camp is situated on the high cliffs overlooking the dry Boteti river on the very edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.
Southern Africa's largest remaining zebra and wildebeest herds, dependant on regular drinking water, migrate between the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans and the Okavango. Meno a Kwena is situated on these traditional migration routes with plentiful wildlife, especially during the zebra and wildebeest migration. This wildlife followed by their accompanying predators.
During the dry season (May to November) thousands of zebras, elephants and other wildlife come to drink along the riverbed. This can only be described as one of the most productive drinking spots in view of a camp in Southern Africa. Birding is excellent year round but bird varieties increase and breeding starts during the summer months (September to May).
The simple yet stylish, traditional tented camp offers an authentic safari mood with traditional rural African touches. The viewing area high up on white cliffs is the centrepiece of the Meno A Kwena experience. This view is shared by the accommodation tents also on the cliffs’edge looking down to the Boteti riverbed below. Meru tents, each with its own bucket shower and loo, offer an authentic safari experience. The living/dining area is under a large canvas roof where traditional safari meals are served.
Wildlife viewing by 4 x 4 safari vehicle varies depending on where the seasonal wildlife is concentrated for water and food. Experienced, and knowledgeable guides lead safari excursions to different Kalahari wilderness areas within the Makgadikgadi area. This all depends on the wildlife movements. An impressive packed picnic lunch and drinks are provided for these safaris. There is no need to leave the camp during the dry season as most of the wildlife in the area will drink from the waterhole. This is a perfect opportunity for you to take a break from game drives.
