Luangwa River Camp lies on the banks of the Luangwa River forming the border of the world renowned South Luangwa National Park in Zambia and marks the end of the Great Rift Valley. It is perhaps one of the few last unspoilt wilderness areas and one of the finest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa and covers an area of over 9,000 sq. km.
There are just five suites at Luangwa River Camp, one which is a double and the other four are a twin. All rooms are ensuite with sunken bathtubs looking out onto your own private corner of Africa. Both the bedroom and bathroom are fronted with large sliding doors leading onto a decked area allowing a lovely breeze into the room and great views onto the river.
Nestled under an ancient ebony grove and overlooking the Wafwa Oxbow Lagoon, the main areas of Luangwa River Camp stretches over multiple elevated decked levels. On one, there is a tempting double plunge pool with a waterfall linking two levels. Sit back and relax on a sunlounger by the pool or retreat to the cooling shade of the open plan bar on the upper level and take in the panoramic views across the Luangwa River and into the South Luangwa National Park. With it's excellent location, you can enjoy great game viewing and bird watching from the lodge.
The ox bow lagoons, Miombo woodland and plains of the Luangwa Valley host vast concentrations of game including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo, wild dog and the puku, endemic to the region. The area also boasts over 400 species of birds.
