Londolozi Tree Camp, in the Sabi Sand private game reserve, is probably the best loved of Londolozi's five camps offering intimacy and exclusivity. Elegance and simplicity are the hallmarks of Tree Camp. Londolozi has a justified reputation as one of the finest private game reserves in Africa and is most famous for its leopard sightings.

Accommodation

True to its name, Londolozi Tree Camp nestles in a bower of indigenous trees, seemingly suspended in the branches. Six massive and contemporary suites are decorated in a sophisticated style with Bedouin-inspired beds swathed in muslin, statuesque candelabras, Ralph Lauren wallpaper, leather beds and decadent bathrooms with pebble-inlaid floors. Each suite has its own private oasis – the plunge pool on the deck and the covered sala are both perfect for relaxing during the heat of the day, surveying the ancient landscape and perhaps watching elephants drinking from the river below.

Facilities

The living areas lead out to a generous wooden deck shaded by an ancient Ebony tree and suspended high above the Sand River. (For those of you who are slightly concerned about heights, it is really only the timber deck which gives the feel of a treehouse. The rest of the lodge is firmly on the ground.) Furnished in elegant and refined African safari style, the living areas at Londolozi Tree Camp feature supremely comfortable furniture, books, African art and artefacts as well as a welcoming fireplace for the winter evenings.

A large swimming pool, with a waterfall cascading over granite boulders, is a welcome respite during the heat of a summer's day. At night, you enjoy lavish dinners of Pan-African cuisine, served in their lantern-lit boma or perhaps on the dining deck.

Londolozi Tree Camp has also recognised that ecotourism is only viable if it involves the inclusion of the communities living in and around the Reserve. As well as morning and afternoon game drives with professional rangers and Shangaan trackers, you can also enjoy interpretative walks through the staff village, with visits to the school and the community crafts centre. Londolozi Tree Camp offers dramatic bush breakfasts, sundowners and dinner banquets are regularly hosted at various scenic wilderness locations on the Reserve.
