Kicheche Valley is an intimate, unfenced luxury tented camp on the eastern side of the beautiful Mara Naboisho Conservancy in Kenya. It is built on platforms amongst the trees and rocky outcrops. Visitor numbers are very low here thanks to tight control on bed density and vehicle numbers in this community driven conservation area.
The camp is close to the Enniskeria River region, with its granite outcrops and permanent pools which attract resident wildlife, and the vast plains to the north hosting large numbers of plains game and containing a vital elephant corridor. The valleys to the west provide a scenic backdrop whilst game driving, and are ideal for game walks.
There are just 6 stunning tents . The tent decks provide the perfect location to relax and soak up the wilderness as birds fly through and the animals pass by. Each tent is spacious, equipped with a desk, sofa and luggage racks. Bathrooms are en-suite and are equipped with a dresser, flushing toilet and hot and cold running water. Family suites (1 double & 2 singles) are available on request.
The area encompasses some of the most stunning terrain in the Masai Mara eco-system. The habitat of acacia woodlands, savannah grassland plains, riverine acacia forest and rocky undulating hills provide a varied habitat for browsing and grazing herbivores along with hideout thickets for most predators. The highest population of giraffe in the Mara are found in Naboisho; elephant herds frequent the area; 3 prides totalling 35 lions have been identified and three prides of another 30-35 lions move between the conservancy and Ol Kinyei, Bardamat hills and the northern plains. Five leopard and three cheetah have also been identified by researchers.
A large hippo pod and crocodiles occupy the hippo pool on the Eneskaria River whilst eland and buffalo visit the conservancy, particularly during the wet season. Antelopes are resident most of the year and species such as aardvark, caracal, serval cat, aardwolf and wild dog are occasionally found, and a black rhino appears from time to time. Naboisho is a bird watchers paradise.
Flexibility is key at Kicheche Valley as guests are not tied to a strict daily agenda and are free to decide on their activities. The duration and frequency of game drives and walks is flexible.
