  • Fly-camping is also on offer at Kiba Point (additional supplement)

Kiba Point is a magical 8 bed exclusive use camp set on the banks of the Rufiji River, just downstream from its sister camp, Sand Rivers, in the Selous National Park. This is one of the most game-rich areas of the Selous. Kiba Point is ideal for a group of friends or family. Although, as the camp is open, it is unsuitable for young children. (Kiba Point is happy to welcome children over 8 years).

Accommodation

There are four stone and thatch open-fronted cottages at Kiba Point, (2 with large double beds and 2 with twin beds), which are raised on platforms above the river. All feature cool, elegant interiors with softly draped mosquito nets. The bathrooms are spacious and 'bush deluxe', with hot and cold running water, flush toilets, and an indoor and outdoor shower. Each cottage has its own plunge pool and there’s a large swimming pool in the main communal area. The lounge/ dining area is the perfect place to relax during the day with plump sofas, loads of books, and bar.

Activities at Kiba Point

All activities at Kiba Point are exclusive to the camp. You have complete flexibility to tailor safari activities to your needs. Private vehicles and guides are on hand to take you out for daily adventures: game drives, walking, boating and fishing. Most guests get superb sightings of the river’s resident hippos and crocodiles, and great birding too.

Fly-camping

Fly-camping is highly recommended and is available at a supplement at Kiba Point. This normally forms part of a short walking safari. You sleep underneath mosquito nets, equipped with safari bedrolls with sheets and blankets. A dome tent is set behind for changing / storage of kit and as a refuge, in case of rain. A hot bucket shower & short-drop toilet is set up behind the camp and a limited bar is available with cold drinks and ice where practical. Fly-camping at Kiba Point is restricted to a maximum of 2 nights.
