Khwai Lediba Camp is located on a beautiful site on the eastern border of the Moremi Game reserve. On the banks of a lagoon flowing into the Khwai river. This acts as a boundary between the reserve and the community area. As it is the sole source of water for miles around, it attracts wildlife from afar. As the game reserve is community-run, a percentage of tourism fees go directly to help local people and projects through the Khwai Community Development Trust.
This is the perfect blend and co-existence between man and nature. The camp offers visitors several unique ways to experience Africa. Besides the day-time drives which can feature Africa’s big attractions – lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe. If birdwatching is what you prefer, the abundant birdlife include the Green Heron and African Wood Owl.
Moreover being a community concession, guests at Khwai Lediba Camp are able to explore nature after sunset with a night drive, as well as walking activities, which are not permitted in the National Parks or Game Reserves. As well as the usual game drives. Exploring after dark with spotlights offers you an opportunity to experience some of the nocturnal animals that are rarely encountered during the day. The camp also provides the opportunity to explore the great stands of leadwood and mopane woodlands as well as open grasslands and banks of the Khwai River on foot. In addition visitors are encouraged to walk through the village of Khwai, meet some of the elders, and learn how the people live alongside animals in close contact to nature. Alternatively, relax and enjoy the tranquillity of a mokoro safari (water level dependant) with experienced river guides, observe wildlife up close on the river banks in a traditional local dug-out canoe.
