Overview

  • Beautiful, pristine location in Queen Elizabeth National Park
  • Authentic bush camp, but with creature comforts
  • Low environmental impact design

Ishasha Wilderness Camp is the only exclusive camp in the southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP), allowing guests to enjoy game viewing without the distraction of lots of other vehicles and people, often experienced in the northern part of the park. The location is idea for staying en route between Bwindi Forest and the crater lakes, Kibale Forest or a second stay in the Mweya area of QENP.

One of the key attractions of a stay at Ishasha Wilderness Camp is to head out in search of the famous tree-climbing lion of the area. This is really quite something to witness (and photograph). Despite this unusual attraction, it is still remarkably quiet in this part of the park.

The relaxed feeling continues at Ishasha Wilderness Camp, a simple but idyllic old school safari camp on the banks of the Ntungwe River. With only ten tents, guests are able to enjoy the feeling of seclusion in the pristine surroundings of the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Each spacious tent, which overlooks the pretty Ntungwe River, has two large beds under mosquito nets, shady veranda and has its own en suite bathroom and dressing area, providing hot water bush showers, running water and an eco-friendly flush toilet. Power is provided by solar energy. A central dining area, also under canvas, provides a comfortable environment for meals and an outdoor lounge area beside the river, and evening ā€œfireplaceā€ venue for guests, completes the unique bush experience.

The appeal of camping that doesn't compromise on comfort. A spacious patio outside each tent allows guests to take a bit of downtime, read a book or just stretch out while taking in the sights and sounds around them.
