Gunns Camp, overlooking the legendary Chief's Island and bordering the Moremi Game Reserve is set under leafy palms, blending naturally with its watery environment. The camp offers comfort balanced by a rustic simplicity so that you aren't isolated from the sights and sounds of the Delta. Ancient ebony trees combine with palms to create an African feel with a touch of the tropics.

Accommodation is in 6 luxury Meru tents on raised platforms, all en-suite. In the evenings you can relax at the elevated main lodge with its lounge/dining areas and small library, or lie in the swimming pool watching the majesty of the African sunset, whilst reflecting on your day with fellow guests. Dining is often held in the lantern-lit boma with its mesmerizing campfire.

Activities at Gunns Camp

The main activities at Gunns Camp are mokoro (traditional dug out canoes) safaris, powerboat game-viewing excursions and guided game walks.  These are all done with their experienced guides with their knowledge and understanding of the complex ecosystem of the Okavango Delta. As they show you how to silently observe nature with minimal impact you will begin to realize the privilege and quiet excitement of being on safari. What makes Gunns Camp unique however are their island excursions. You take a mokoro and a guide and head off to a nearby island to explore. This is a very special opportunity in Botswana.

Chiefs Island, where your game walks take place, offers one of best concentrations of African wildlife in Moremi. Sightings may include lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and packs of wild dog running across the plains of the Delta. Their  private concession is also home to hippo, crocodile, zebra and a variety of antelope including the rare red lechwe. Gunns Camp is renowned for being a birders' paradise, with over 240 species of bird found in the concession including the rare Pel's Fishing Owl and the endangered Wattled Crane.
