Chindeni Bush Camp has an enviable location on the edge of an ox-bow lagoon within the South Luangwa National Park. The purple-hued Chindeni Hills form a magnificent backdrop. This is certainly a contender for most beautiful tented camp in the South Luangwa with its lagoon location.
There’s something about sleeping under canvas that ignites a sense of adventure in everyone but at Chindeni Bush Camp, you don’t have to compromise on comfort either. With wooden floors, four-poster beds, cosy sitting areas, en suite bathrooms and vaulted canvas ceilings, Chindeni’s four opulent tents are very inviting. There is no need to stir from your private raised deck jutting out over the lagoon for game-viewing. Here you can relax – reading, gazing at the wildlife or simply enjoy the serenity of the water. Solar power provides lighting, battery charging facilities and hot water.
Relax with a drink in the central lounge and dining area – a glorious expanse of varnished decking arranged on several levels around the surrounding ebony trees. Enjoy the same spectacular view of the serene lagoon and its hippo inhabitants.
Avid wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers can set out on superb walking safaris, night drives and scenic sundowner trips with the focus being on walking safaris. Usually morning tea/coffee and snacks are followed by a 3-4 hour bush walk. Afterwards you have a substantial brunch meal and time to relax before tea and an afternoon bush activity. Or you can just park yourself in a deckchair at camp and watch the game drawn to the lagoon to drink.
Chindeni Bush Camp is run by the Bushcamp Company which operates six bush camps, all varying in character and location. Many are within walking distance of each other. This gives you the option of walking from one camp to the next, with your luggage being portered separately so that it is waiting for you on arrival.
