Changa Safari Camp lies on the northern shores of Lake Kariba within Matusadona National Park – a wonderful luxurious tented camp for only 16 people.
Activities include morning and late afternoon bush walks, possibly one of the best ways to experience the bush as well as morning and afternoon game drives in an open 4x4 vehicle. Their guided boat cruises let you explore the bays and river inlets where the birdlife is prolific. Elephants, who have adapted to a semi aquatic lifestyle, frequent the shoreline and hippos are plentiful. Lake Kariba is also a fisherman’s paradise so why not try your hand at fighting the renowned Tiger Fish of the lake?
Changa Safari Camp has eight luxurious tented suites each decorated with unique African influences, from rustic wood, leather and weavings, to crisp white linen and locally made furniture. Each tent has an en suite facilities with open views from the double basins onto the lake, as well as an “under the stars” outside shower and bath. All tents are mosquito-proofed with fans for the warm summer months. Outside you can enjoy spectacular lake vistas from your private veranda.
The lounge is completely open to the cooling lake breezes, shaded by a thatch roof with wide-angle views over the main deck to the sandy beach and lake beyond. The main deck with its sweeping curved stairway leads down to a lower deck with its fire pit for convivial evening drinks around the fire. Then you step onto a wide beach of white sand, the perfect spot to relax and drink in the endless lake views, perhaps with an actual drink in hand. Meals are a laid-back affair at Changa Safari Camp and can be served alfresco on this sandy beach to enjoy the mesmerising views.
The swimming pool is a wonderfully shaded haven equipped with sun loungers and private seating areas.
