The Rhino Walking Safari offers a rare and authentic way to experience the Kruger National Park, combining the best of both world. This three-night (or more) adventure blends comfort and discovery, with one night at Rhino Post Safari Lodge followed by two nights at Rhino Plains Camp, the base for your walking safaris.

Begin your journey with classic 4x4 game drives in a private Kruger concession, where sightings of the Big Five unfold in spectacular landscapes. Then, slow the pace as you set out on foot from Rhino Plains Camp, guided by expert rangers and armed scouts. Rhino Post Safari Lodge focuses on vehicle-based game drives, while its sister camp, Rhino Plains, specialises in guided walking safaris.
A Rhino Walking Safari is mainly gentle ambling, so itβs suitable for any adventurous adult. Each day, you enjoy a three to four hour morning and afternoon walk. Discover more about the Krugerβs habitats and ecology as you walk through the African bush. . (Though they may substitute an afternoon game drive in the hotter months. )
Optional Sleep-Out on the Rhino Walking Safaris
For the ultimate wilderness immersion, spend a night under the stars at the Sleep-Out Camp. This is a collection of elevated wooden platforms deep within the private concession, approximately 1Β½ hrs walk from Plains Camp. Each tented platform features a comfortable mattress, mosquito netting, and a private bathroom, offering an unforgettable βin-touch-with-natureβ experience.
Good to Know
- Operates year-round, but best walking conditions from April to October
- We have included transfers from Skukuza Airport. Skukuza offers directly flight to, and from, both Cape Town and Johannesburg.
- However we can arrange road transfers from another game lodge (we recommend the Southern Sabi sands for an easy transfer, or a country lodge in the Drakensberg escarpment nearby.
- Strict age policy of 12 years and older are welcome, though we recommend 14 or 16 years and above if possible.
