Nyamatusi Camp

Nyamatusi Camp is set in one of the wildest and most remote parts of Africa. It also sits on the banks of one of the oldest rivers in the world, the Zambezi River. Nyamatusi allows you to experience an authentic view of the old untouched Africa. There’s a sense of remoteness about the camp. You gave over the floodplains to the river with Sausage Trees weighed down by their fruit and the stunning backdrop of distant mountains.

The main area is exquisite with a lovely upstairs sitting area and viewing deck. Downstairs there's an underground wine cellar (air-conditioned). There are six luxury tented suites, all with uninterrupted views of the river and the mountains beyond. Each suite has a small sitting area, mini-bar, international charging station and en suite facilities with indoor-outdoor shower. Outside there's an expansive deck with a private plunge pool. It is also the only camp which offers air-conditioning (and plunge pools) in Mana Pools. This is much needed in the hot days of September and October.

You can spend the days walking in the footsteps of ancient explorers, following the tracks of elephants. Their walking guides will accompany you through the bush while teaching you about animal spoor, interesting insects, plants and the geology of the area. Or you can watch the drama of the wild play out before your eyes on game drives with expert guides. The Lower Zambezi River is the perfect setting for an adventurous canoeing safari. Paddle along the tranquil waters of the Zambezi River and take in the pristine scenery of Mana Pools National Park from a unique angle. You’ll get the chance to see wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and incredible birdlife.

Birding is excellent in Mana Pools. Delight in the call of the African skimmer, photograph the Southern carmine bee-eater or the Narina trogon. Finally you can try your hand at fishing for tiger-fish, bream or vundu on a catch and release basis.

Note: This camp is open from 1st April to 5th January. However expect hot temperatures from October onwards. The camp doesn''t offer wifi (very remote) but there is an emergency phone if needed.

Nyamatusi Mahogany

Nyamatusi Mahogany is a small family-friendly camp which lies close to the main camp. It offers the perfect luxury safari experience for families. It comprises 2 tented suites and 2 family suites. Each suite has en suite facilities with indoor and outdoor showers,. Each family suite has en suite bathroom with bath tub and shower and two bedrooms. All rooms have private decks and plunge pools, and are nestled under ancient mahogany trees on the edge of the mighty Zambezi River.

The camp has been designed with style and serenity in mind. Promoting a philosophy that embraces families into the wild, children are welcomed into camp with our special ‘Ngwana Club’ starter kit and a wide range of activities are on offer, tailored to your children’s ages.
