Jafferji House and Spa is a beautifully restored Stone Town boutique hotel. There's an abundance of richly varnished wood and many of the walls display images taken around the world by the photographer owner, Javed Jafferji.
Each of the ten rooms is individually themed around a significant Zanzibar or African celebrity. Freddie Mercury spent part of his early childhood nearby and fittingly, there's a room dedicated to him. Every room is unique, but they all have air- con, fan, flat screen TV, Wi-Fi, and en-suite facilities with separate bath and shower. Some are more generously sized and luxurious than others; for example Jafferji's Sultan Suite has a Moroccan brass bath and a splendid outdoor shower.
If you want a break from taking in the history and excitement of Stone Town, then why not indulge yourself at the rooftop spa, with its stunning views of the Indian Ocean. It's quite compact but very peaceful and offers facials, massages, manicures and pedicures. If no treatment is taking place then it may be possible to sit up on the rooftop with a book, and enjoy the view over the rooftops to the harbour and the Indian Ocean.
Jafferji House has its own restaurant called Mistress of Spice where breakfast is served, and dinner can be enjoyed. The owner of the hotel also runs a local tour company, and the staff at Jafferji House are happy to arrange excursions for you all over Zanzibar.
