The Farmhouse Hotel is a traditional country hotel perched on the hill above the Langebaan Lagoon on the West Coast and only one hour’s drive north of Cape Town. Originally built in 1860, the hotel was beautifully restored in the 1990’s, recreating the original Cape Dutch farmstead atmosphere. It retains the original charm of reed ceilings, huge fireplaces and outstanding views of the turquoise waters of the lagoon.
The rooms, some with their own fireplace and some leading to a private poolside garden, have views of the Langebaan lagoon. All rooms are furnished in simple country style and all have en-suite bathrooms, television, tea/coffee making facilities and mini bars. In summer you can enjoy breakfast and lunch al fresco, whilst in the African winter you can enjoy the crackling log fires in the restaurant with its high ceilings and Oregon pine furnishings.
Other facilities at the Farmhouse Hotel include a sheltered swimming pool, games room with billiard table, bar, spa room and WiFi.
The location of this unpretentious coastal farmhouse hotel, adjacent to the West Coast National Park is one of its key drawcards. Please note that it is NOT right by the lagoon's edge, but only a short car drive or slightly longer walk away.
If your love is for either flowers or birds, then Langebaan is the right place for you. There are plenty of wild flowers in spring (August to September), especially in the Postberg section of the West Coast National Park. There is also a variety of water birds, especially during the summer months.
Activities along the West Coast revolve around exploring the crystal clear Langebaan lagoon with boat cruises on offer, stand-up-paddle-boarding or simply swimming in the warm lagoon. Or you can just take a walk along the beautiful stretch of beach. or the more adventurous can enjoy windsurfing, hobie cat sailing, kite-surfing and kayaking.
