The intimate Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa on the Atlantic coast side of Cape Town is ideal if you're looking for a romantic yet fun hotel with a distinctly glamorous feel to it. The hotel stands at the edge of the world. On one side, a line of majestic mountains – the ‘Twelve Apostles’ – reaches towards the heavens; on the other, the sun sets on breeching whales, playful dolphins, and crashing rollers of the Atlantic. And all around, you can walk the wilderness trails of the Table Mountain National Park. They'll even pack you a picnic basket.
But this sense of space belies the fact that the luxurious five star Twelve Apostles is just a few minutes from worldly, cosmopolitan Cape Town with the Atlantic beaches of Camps Bay less than 5 minutes away. Theatres and art galleries, plus the shops and restaurants of the vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront are only 15 minutes away via their complimentary transfer service. Alternatively why not enjoy a wonderful helicopter ride to the Waterfront - available at very reasonable cost!
However the Twelve Apostles has lots on offer to keep you happily ensconced there all day: one of the best spas in Cape Town, a breath-taking garden magically perched above the ocean, walking trails up the mountain, two heated pools and secluded Jacuzzi, even a private cinema…
The Twelve Apostles Hotel has an indigenous fynbos mountain garden with a two heated swimming pools. There are a couple of walking trails set out in their mountain reserve complete with hammocks at strategic points on the way. We recommend a late afternoon walk just before sunset perhaps with a bottle of wine so that you can drink in the sun setting over the Ocean in utter peace and tranquility without having to stir from the hotel!
The award winning Sanctuary Spa at the Twelve Apostles is one of the best in Cape Town and is justifiably popular with guests. It offers the full range of treatments including hydrotherapy options with additional facilities such as a brine pool, various Jacuzzis, a rasoul chamber, sauna and steam rooms. A fitness room with a range of cardio and weight machines completes the picture.
The rooms and suites have all the amenities that you’d expect from a five star hotel. The 70 luxurious air-conditioned rooms each have television, telephone, DVD player and minibar, international adaptors, complimentary internet connection, air-conditioning and safe. The rooms are located in four different wings - the Classic rooms offer an outlook patio overlooking the indigenous garden (so no real views); Mountain facing rooms are the same size and overlook the Twelve Apostles mountain range; slightly larger Luxury rooms have partial sea and mountain views whilst spacious Superior sea-facing suites have a split-level open plan design with sunken lounge area and a full sea view.
The Azure Restaurant on the first floor has seductive sea-views and a terrace for enjoying the magnificent sunsets. It offers an innovative Fynbos-inspired tasting menu amidst other dishes. The Leopard cocktail bar and lounge is a great place to relax before dinner. Live entertainment ensures a good vibe. In contrast the Cafe Grill overlooking the gardens is perfect for light lunches and teas.
Given its location, we recommend that you take a rental car or take some tours. However complimentary shuttles are offered to the Waterfront and Camps Bay on a regular basis.
