Camp Moremi is shaded by giant ebony trees and overlooks the Xakanaxa Lagoon, in the heart of what is reputedly Africa's most beautiful reserve - the Moremi Game Reserve of Botswana. Camp Moremi offers a diversity of habitat and animal wild life, which is unrivalled in Botswana. To the north and west of the camp are the permanent lagoons and waterways of the Okavango. And to the south and east are the dry woodlands.
Here ancient Mopane forests, open grassland and seasonal floodplains have formed. Trained naturalist safari guides share their knowledge and deep love of the wilderness with you on game drives. Where sightings of wild dog, cheetah, leopard, lion, elephants and buffalo are possible. Being in the Moremi National Park, safari activities revolve around game drives. But interestingly given the camps location on the river, boat trips are also possible to explore the lagoon and surrounding channels.
The famous elevated Moremi Tree Lodge, shaded by giant ebony trees, is the stunning focal point of Camp Moremi. And houses the luxurious main lounge, a wildlife reference library, dining room and cocktail bar, all cooled by overhead fans. From here you enjoy stunning views over the lagoon and the Okavango Delta. Around the lodge lie 11 East African-style tents. Exquisitely furnished with teak furniture, traditional safari chairs, colourful woven rugs and good linen. Camp Moremi offers some nice extra touches such as bath robes and tea/coffee facilities (a relative novelty in Botswana) to make your safari stay comfortable. Each tent has en suite facilities with flushing toilet and hot showers.
Camp Moremi has one luxury family safari tent consisting of two separate bedrooms and two bathrooms. The unit has a thatched roof with spacious bathrooms consisting of double vanities and showers, with private decks offering views over the Moremi Game Reserve. Subtle décor and lighting fixtures allow for a natural and warm atmosphere within each room.
Other facilities include a sundeck, plunge pool, covered boma and an elevated game-viewing platform at the water's edge, affording magnificent views over the Okavango Delta - the perfect spot for sundowners after the day's game viewing and activities.
Camp Moremi lies within the Moremi Game Reserve, a national park, which means that night drives and bush walks are not allowed by the park authorities. Though the game-viewing more than makes up for it, we recommend combining Camp Moremi with a water-based camp such as its sister lodges, Camp Okavango or Xugana Island Lodge, to get an overall Okavango Delta experience. You can fly between camps or travel by boat to get a real feeling for the delta. This takes the form of a morning safari excursion with game-viewing en route.
