Colona Castle lies on a mountainside above a tranquil lake on the Cape Peninsula close to the warm water beaches of False Bay (St James & Muizenberg). This splendid Mediterranean villa offers character, exclusivity and infinite charm. As with many owner-run lodges, here you receive personal attention and hospitality.
All the 8 suites are furnished with great individual flair. With treasured antiques and artworks collected over many years by the owners, Nicole and Michael Brand. Four sumptuous suites, one family suite and three superior bedrooms are spacious and individually decorated. All have stunning sea and mountain views.
Lunches at Colona Castle are served at the swimming pool during summer. And dinners in the candlelit dining hall overlook the shimmering lights of the city of Cape Town. Alternatively there are many excellent restaurants nearby. In the winter months you can settle down around the beautiful open hearth log fires and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Though Colona Castle is about 30 minutes drive from the centre of Cape Town, it is central for many of Cape Town's attractions - such as the wine estates and golf courses of Constantia, and the swimming beaches of False Bay where the water is at least 5° warmer than on the other side of the mountain.
Leisure options include mountain or beach walks (perhaps amongst the wild flora in the nearby Silvermine nature Reserve) and whale watching between July and November when the Southern Right whales come right into False Bay to calve.
Despite its luxurious furnishings, Colona Castle welcomes families and some of the suites are perfectly suited for families with extra beds placed in the sitting rooms. The Cape Peninsula part of Cape Town is particularly good for families with the warm waters for swimming, the penguins at Boulders Beach and the Toy museum at Simons Town.
