The Fancourt Hotel, Country Club & Golf Estate, on the western side of the Garden Route, is a luxurious five star resort hotel which combines old-world charm and contemporary luxury. There are 115 luxury rooms, one bedroom suites and two bedroom suites at Fancourt Hotel, offering air-conditioning, telephone, TV and mini bar. They are decorated in a modern neutral and understated style. The beautifully restored 150 year old Manor House has 18 luxury suites, and operates as a boutique hotel within a hotel.
The Fancourt Hotel is primarily known for its superb golf facilities, boasting three outstanding 18-hole courses set on 500 hectares, all designed by Gary Player, as well as the public Bramble Hill course. The Montagu has been rated the No 1 golf course in South Africa - a superbly manicured course whilst the Outeniqua, set in rolling parkland, has the stunning backdrop of the Outeniqua Mountains. The piece de resistance however is The Links golf course which hosted the 2003 President's Cup. This is a truly challenging course, especially if the wind blows, with rolling fairways alongside punishing rough. The Fancourt Golf academy, the High Performance Lab, practice greens and several pro shops complete the golfing experience at Fancourt Hotel. If you are a keen golfer, you might like to consider the Fancourt's winter golf offer which includes unlimited golf (offer is subject to change).
However, Fancourt Hotel is not only the preserve of the golfer. Golfer and non-golfer alike appreciate the exquisite health and beauty spa with a complete range of treatments, a gymnasium, sauna, heated indoor pool and Jacuzzi. This is one of the finest spas in South Africa. High emphasis is placed on all outdoor pursuits, with golf topping the list. Other highlights include tennis courts, two swimming pools, volleyball, lawn bowls and even a mini-cinema which goes down very well with children. There are also three nature trails, one of 10km, which wind through the forest on the estate, and mountain bikes for hire.
A resort of this size usually has a number of restaurants to choose from and Fancourt Hotel is no exception. Choose between four restaurants offering varying styles of cuisine from formal to relaxed Mediterranean.
The Fancourt Hotel lies only five minutes from George and so is ideally situated to explore the both the western Garden Route - with its beaches, Bartholomeus Diaz ship replica at Mossel Bay and the Wilderness lakes - and the many attractions of the Little Karoo. We recommend that you stay a couple of nights here before travelling to the eastern side of the Garden Route for another few nights.
Children are very welcome at the Fancourt Hotel and during school holidays and weekends a full programme of children's events is offered as well as a nanny service. Families are well accommodated in the two and three bedroom suites at Fancourt Hotel.
